PSA Script

• What is the first thought that pops into your head when you hear the word "tattoo"?

                        - Pain, scarring, unprofessional, disease are items that many individuals think about when they hear "tattoo".

                        - Permanent decoration on the body

                        - The person must be trouble, a thug, going nowhere in life

                  - Gang affiliations

                  -Done time in prison

• There are those who decide to skip this step and think that they can tattoo customers without proper instruction and equipment. These people are known as "scratchers" and are one of the main reasons why the tattooing industry is held in the negative light.

                  - In prisons, resources for safe tattooing are usually not provided

                  - The inmates have little to no knowledge of how to properly do a tattoo

                        - underage kids tend to turn to them because of cheap prices and no parental consent

• Other uses besides decoration

                  - medicine; mark for radiotherapy, blood type, and other medical information that may be useful for a doctor.

                  - makeup; to cover skin disorders, permanent makeup

                  - identification; sailors, important animals                 

• A tattoo artist is one who takes on an apprenticeship from someone who has had years of experience and is willing to teach them everything they know about the business including how to operate a professional tattooing gun, sanitary procedures, and how the business runs. Everything that the apprentice needs to survive in the industry.

• I propose a solution to this predicament, a college for Applied Arts with a  curriculum to be offered to those who are seeking to become a tattoo artist and those who want to renew their license and other professions that are out of the ordinary in art and require special classes.

                  - a more professional appearance once they earn their degree

                  - effectively decrease the number of cases of blood borne diseases

                  - easier way for people to find a job as a tattoo artist

Senior Project

My senior project is a mandatory college education for tattoos artists before they are allowed their license. With this curriculum, I shall also provide a digital 3D model of a tattoo shop that follows all guidelines and sanitary procedures.
